A Lil' About The Dyes...
The Dyes are a rock'n'roll trio hailing from Chicago, IL. Often coined as "garage-a-billy", they've dipped into a phonic realm fueled by infectious '50s and '60s oldies, approached with an irreverence and vigor that is anything but retro. Frontwomen Jill & Lisa formed the group as teens and have maintained the same line-up since the addition of Charlie in '06. With over a decade of playing the rock'n'roll circuit under their belts, the band has had the pleasure to travel around the great US of A and share bills with many roots rock luminaries including Johnny Powers, Reverend Horton Heat, JD McPherson, Los Straitjackets, and many more.
Catching a show makes for a raw live experience that's too loud to be overlooked. Lisa Louise slings an Electromatic while crooning & growling her way through rockabilly classics and heartfelt originals; Jill E. Bean plucks a sparkle Danelectro bass, complementing each twang of guitar with a soulful thump and fluid sway; and driving the trio forward is Charlie - yielding wooden shards and channeling his inner Animal at an alarmingly reckless, sweaty pace!
Their latest single "Liza Jane" is featured on Bloodshot Records' much anticipated 25th Anniversary Compilation, Too Late to Pray: Defiant Chicago Roots, including 22 Chicago artists running the spectrum of classic country, bluegrass, rockabilly, folk, and rock-n-roll:
"Cramps-and-Flat Duo Jets-fearing garage power trio spins a sleazy, lo-fi psychobilly take on a pop standard that became David Bowie’s first recorded single."
